HIGHWAYS & STREET WORKS · NEWPORT
Highways and street works.
We provide road signs, cones, barriers and lights, road excavation and base reinstatement, and crash barriers and vehicle restraint systems.
Complete street works services.
Signing, lighting and guarding
Signing, lighting and guarding draws attention to works being carried out and redirects pedestrians and traffic, to protect workers and passers-by and minimise inconvenience and disruption. Our service includes road signs, cones, barriers, lights and more.
- Safety for workers and pedestrians around construction zones
- Road signs, cones and barriers that direct traffic and minimise disruption
- Installations that meet industry safety standards and legal requirements
Excavation in the highway
Road excavation removes soil and vegetation to prepare and level land ready for a road to be laid. It can also mean digging up parts of a road for repair, or for new cables or pipes, such as fibre internet installation.
- A stable base for new roads
- Excavation for underground utilities such as fibre internet or drainage
- Targeted repairs as well as full road builds
Reinstatement and compaction of backfill materials
After a road is excavated, it needs to be repaired before it is safe to drive on again. Our highway base reinstatement puts soil, rock and stones into a trench or foundation after excavation, with careful consideration of shifting and settling, water flow and erosion.
- Layers of soil, rock and stones matched to the conditions of each excavation
- Reinstatement plans that take local water flow and soil composition into account
- Work handled to minimise road closure time
Reinstatement of sub-base and base in non-bituminous materials
Excavation can leave a large hole in the ground. Non-bituminous sub-base reinstatement repairs it, with attention to the materials used, compaction that avoids water pressure build-up, and construction quality that helps prevent future drops or potholes.
- Materials compacted and layered to suit local conditions
- Water flow management to prevent soil erosion and surface cracking
- Reinstatement that gets roads back to safe driving conditions while minimising disruption
Crash barriers
A crash barrier is part of a vehicle restraint system (VRS). Made of concrete or steel, crash barriers are designed to stop vehicles leaving the road in a collision. You will usually find them beside motorways and dual carriageways, on bridges, and on tight bends where the risk is highest.
Whether it is a new housing development, an industrial site or a road-only job, we install crash barrier fencing to suit the project.
