Social Housing Fencing Framework
Kingsley Build Group is currently engaged in a social housing framework project for QDL, delivering up to 10 fencing jobs per week, split between 4 dedicated teams (gangs). The projects involve the installation of a variety of fencing types, with the most common styles being featheredge and hit-and-miss fencing, tailored to meet the needs of multiple housing developments. The client, QDL, has expressed high satisfaction with both the quality of work and the professionalism demonstrated by our teams.
Scope of Work
The removal and disposal of existing fencing with the construction of various new fencing styles, including (but no limited to) featheredge and hit-and-miss fencing, across multiple properties in the social housing sector.
Coordinating up to 10 jobs per week, ensuring the timely completion and quality control on each site.
Four gangs are deployed, allowing for efficient distribution of labour and resources, enabling simultaneous work across different locations.
Typical Fencing Types
Featheredge Fencing:
Known for its durability and traditional aesthetic, featheredge fencing is a popular choice for residential properties. It provides solid privacy and is built to withstand harsh weather conditions.
Materials Used: Pressure-treated timber, strong posts, gravel boards for added durability, and stainless-steel fixings.
Installation Method: Boards are overlapped to ensure complete coverage, with sturdy posts set at regular intervals for support.
Hit-and-Miss Fencing:
This fencing style is designed for a more modern look, offering both privacy and airflow through alternating slats positioned on opposite sides of the fence. It’s a highly versatile option, suited to a range of properties.
Materials Used: High-quality timber, with careful spacing and alignment of slats for a clean, structured finish.
Installation Method: Vertical or horizontal slats are attached to fence rails, with spacing adjusted to the client’s specifications.
Project Coordination and Challenges
Workload Management: With up to 10 jobs scheduled per week, efficient management of the teams is critical. Each gang is assigned specific tasks based on job complexity and location, ensuring the workload is evenly distributed.
Client Communication: Regular updates and site visits with QDL have ensured that their expectations are met consistently, which has led to their continued satisfaction.
Logistical Challenges: Some sites have required additional preparation due to terrain or access issues. These were swiftly addressed by adapting fencing installation methods, ensuring that project deadlines were maintained.
Client Feedback
QDL has consistently expressed their satisfaction with the quality of work and the professionalism displayed by TransPak UK. The combination of timely delivery, meticulous attention to detail, and open communication has helped solidify a strong working relationship with the client.
